About the event
I have epilepsy, and all these sounds were created from EEG recordings of my brainwaves. I sonified the data to create an acoustic experience of seizure activity. The first five minutes represent normal sleep activity, and my brainwaves are harmonically aligned. Then the first seizure occurs, and for the following ten minutes my brainwaves are misaligned. Four seizure events occur in that time period, identified by intense noise. The brainwaves gradually settle, synchronize harmonically, and the fifteen-minute composition begins again. This pattern of peaceful sleep interrupted by seizures is a condition I have lived with for decades, but have only recently incorporated into my compositions.
